SKI
TOUR OF GREAT WAR

Since 1993-4, Ski Civetta has been
part of Dolomiti Superski, and is connected by
an efficient Ski Bus service from Alleghe to the
Marmolada and then to Sella Ronda and to the ski
tour circuit of the Great War. Here, the tourists,
unlike the resorts in some other nearby regions,
will meet a genuine hospitable welcome from the
residents. In the evening, the restaurants and
the discotheques invite you to relax in the warmth
with a touch of modern delights. Meanwhile, for
the skater, there are two ice rinks for you to
experience some more excitement. In the morning,
you can first get the forecast on the weather
and snow conditions, which the Arabba, the regional
alpine meteorological centre, provides by fax
to the tourist offices. The skiers, possibly by
taking the skibuses that take them straight from
the hotel to the pistes, can start a wonderful
day among the pure snow, impressive peaks and
the clean, fresh air. For those who like more
excitement, the more demanding and spectacular
alpine skiing routes are not to be missed. Meanwhile
for the more careful, the guided trips on medium
to easy routes are very popular now, with excursions
into the surrounding valleys. Within 20 minutes
by skibus, you can actually reach the pistes of
the Malga Ciapela area that take you towards Arraba
and the round tour called Giro della Sella, with
connections to other parts of the Dolomiti Superski
area. So you have the chance to ski for a whole
day without passing the same place. Or you can
do the ski tour of the Great War (even on your
own), which is a fantastic alternative to the
classic Sellaronda.
You shouldn't forget the Marmolada nearby, as
well, where you can ski all year on the glacier,
which you can get to by free skibus from Alleghe
in about 20 minutes.
