SERRAI DI SOTTOGUDA ARE TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOLLOWING THE DAMAGES CAUSED BY THE VAIA STORM IN OCTOBER 2018.
Some kilometres far from Selva di Cadore, at the bottom of Marmolada, there are the Serrai di Sottoguda, a natural gorge, in Rocca Pietore municipality.
The canyon begins at the end of Sottoguda, following the flow of Pettorina stream, which in the past centuries has carved out the gorge into the rock. This one is two kilometres long and follows a way through the high rock walls dropping straight down for thousands of metres.
During the visit of this natural wonder, you have the impression to enter a fairy-tale world. Along the itinerary there are several waterfalls, small bridges, the little church of Sant’Antonio and the statue of the Madonna dei Serrai.
The canyon can also be visited in the winter – the waterfalls falling from the high rock walls freeze and become a paradise for ice climbing lovers.
