Several refuges and Malgas (diary farms for summer pastures) are located in the Valley and most of them can be reached with easy walks just following marked paths.
In the Malgas you can taste and buy genuine dairy products, all produced in a natural environment – cow’s and goat’s milk cheeses, smoked ricottas, fresh ricottas, butter and other dairy products with their traditional mountain flavour.
Surrounded by the spectacular Dolomites, the mountain refuges offer breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape and Selva di Cadore.
Some refuges can be reached by foot, others by chair-lift and in their warm environment guests can sample the delicious local cuisine – Casunziei with a beetroot filling, Canederli, potato gnocchi, polenta, mushrooms, game and local cheeses.
Not to be missed are the typical desserts: apple strudel, jam tarts with blueberries, raspberries, wild currants, soft fruits and lots of other specialities.
