A few kilometres far from Selva di Cadore, at the foot of Marmolada, there is a natural gorge, the Serrai of Sottoguda.
During the winter, the waterfalls falling from the high rock walls freeze and become a paradise for ice climbing lovers.
The frozen waterfalls present different grades of difficulty and are an important destination for international ice climbers. The most popular ice waterfall is ‘La Cattedrale’ (The Cathedral) which is 100 m high.
The Serrai of Sottoguda and their waterfalls can be easily reached on foot from the hamlet of Sottoguda, in the Municipality of Rocca Pietore.
