Summer in Val Fiorentina

There are numerous attractions and things to do in our territory. During the summer our visitors can enjoy easy walks, excursions and cultural and archaeological itineraries. The famous places are the nearby First World War positions and trenches in the Lagazuoi/Cinque Torri area, the Alta Via no.1, the Mondeval Mesolithic site and the Mandriz Neolithic site, where archaeological finds of international value have been uncovered.

Moreover, the valley offers a lot of mountain bike routes, via ferrata routes and ascents for the sport and climbing addicts. For fishing lovers the Fiorentina Valley has several streams and torrents with clear water. Then, if you want to practise other sports, there is the new Sports Centre in Santa Fosca, equipped with basketball, tennis and volleyball courts, a five-a-side football field and a wide adventure playgrounds for children.

In every corner of our valley you can find small restaurants, alpine refuges and malgas where you can taste the typical cuisine of the Ladin tradition – recipes with traditional scents and flavours, homemade and prepared with Tyrol smoked ham, game meat, mushrooms and dairy products of our alpine pastures.

Culture is also an essential part of the place. The Vittorino Cazzetta Museum collects the archeological, geo-paleontological and historical finds discovered in the Fiorentina Valley and in the surrounding areas. The most important discoveries of great international significance are the burial with the ‘Skeleton of the Mondeval Man’, dated back to the VI millennium B.C., and the fossil footprints uncovered on a rock of Mount Pelmetto and composed by three trails of three different species of dinosaurs (the first and the most ancient in Italy).
